Visual Field Screening
When you focus on an object this is in the “central field” of your vision which recognises colour and details. Images on the side make up your “peripheral field” which is important for day to day safety, especially when crossing roads, driving or playing sport.
Visual field screening is a simple procedure, you look at a screen and press a button when you see a light flash.
Your “visual field” is your total area of vision, everything you see when you open your eyes.
Visual field screening tells us a lot about your ocular health, especially if you have a family history of glaucoma. The slight loss of peripheral vision in the early stages of glaucoma is difficult to notice, the sooner it is identified the better, early detection and treatment helps to keep as much vision as possible.
